What is Sugaring?
Sugaring is an ancient middle-eastern practice that is similar to waxing, but the paste sticks to the hair not to the skin, which causes less redness, pain, and inflammation. The mixture is made of natural ingredients, there is less irritation, and it washes off easily with warm water.
Before your Sugaring appointment
2 days before your appointment, gently exfoliate the area that will be sugared. This will make the hair removal process easier. Please do not exfoliate the day of your appointment to prevent irritation.
If you are concerned with discomfort during your appointment, a numbing cream is available for purchase. The cream must be put on the area 45 minutes prior to your appointment. You can arrange a time with Braziliant for pick up prior to your scheduled appointment date.
Day of Sugaring appointment
Please arrive with dry clean skin. Do not apply lotion/ oil to the area being sugared.
Remember to breath! Holding your breath causes you to tense up.
Depending on what you are getting sugared, will be gently guided into positions that assure the best sugaring treatment.Your esthetician may even ask you to help hold the skin tight. The tighter the skin, the less it hurts.
Minor blood spotting is normal, especially if your hair has been shaved over a period or if your hair is course and thick.
Many clients find comfort in taking an Ibuprofin before their session. Please consult a doctor before taking any medication.
A histamine reaction can occur on the first few visits. Taking an anti-histamine a few days before your appointment and the day of may help prevent this. Please consult a doctor before taking any medication.
If your hair is extremely long, you may trim it down to an inch. Be careful not to trim too short. If you need trimmed at the time of your appointment, a $5 fee will be applied to the service.
After your Sugaring appointment
Avoid applying heat to the sugared area for 12 to 24 hours.
This includes hot baths, sauna, and steam
Avoid sexual activity for 24 to 48 hours after your Brazilian service.
Use an anti-acne lotion for face, back, and chest following the treatment and twice a day until breakouts are gone. Use only products recommended by your skin care professional.
Avoid applying highly fragranced products to the area. This includes perfume, scented body lotions, antiperspirants, cosmetics, or feminine hygiene sprays. Only use professional products, recommended to you by the skin care therapist performing the service.
Avoid using harsh abrasives or exfoliates in the sugared area immediately after sugaring. Wait a day or two before exfoliating.
Avoid applying skin care products to the sugared area 12-24 hours after your appointment unless recommended by your skin care professional. This includes self-tanning products and tan accelerators.
Any pinking of the skin should disappear within 6 to 8 hours after your sugaring service. Slight pinking is normal, and indicates the hair was removed from the root.
If you experience bumps or whiteheads after a sugaring treatment, it may possibly be a histamine reaction. This is a common reaction especially for a first-time sugaring client. Your skin care professional can recommend products and home care to help decrease sensitivity.
General Sugaring Questions
How long does my hair need to be? Your hair should be the length of a long grain of rice. The ideal length is 2 long grains of rice. You do not want to the hair to be extremely short because it is more difficult to extract, which can result in skin irritation. You also do not want the hair to be extremely long because the sugar needs to touch the skin and seep into the hair follicles.
I am on my cycle. Can I still get a Brazilian? Yes! The skin tends to be more sensitive during this time but it does not affect the service.
I am pregnant. Can I still get sugared? Yes! Sugaring is all natural and safe and can be done while pregnant. During pregnancy hormones can increase sensitivity for some woman.
Does sugaring hurt less than waxing? 95% of Braziliant’s clients say yes. It is less irritating to the skin. Since hair is still being completely removed from the root, it will not be painless. Braziliant recommends all first-time clients apply a numbing cream 45 minutes prior to your appointment (consult with Braziliant if you have allergies or concerns before applying)
How long does a Brazilian take? It depends on how easily the hair slides out of the follicle. Appointments on average take about 25 to 35 minutes.
How often do I need to come back for a Brazilian? Every 4 weeks is the ideal timeframe. As the hair grows less, you may be able to push your appointment to 5 or 6 week intervals.
When will the hair start growing back? It depends on the individual but you will typically start to see growth in about a week. The hair will not be long enough to sugar till about 3 or 4 weeks.

What is a Vajacial?
An ingrown hair treatment for your most intimate area. Includes Cleanse, Exfoliation, Steam, Extractions, Mud Mask, and Moisturizer.
Can I get a Vajacial the same day as a Brazilian?
Yes but we do not recommend it. Important steps of the vajacial are exfoliating with an enzyme or sugar scrub and softening the skin with steam. Due to the sensitivity of the area we are treating, we will not be able to exfoliate or steam the skin on the same day as your Brazilian. It is best to wait 3 days after your Brazilian to receive a Vajacial. Ensure that you come in for this service before your pubic hair has completely grown back, ensuring we can see and remove the ingrown hairs on the surface of the skin.
How many Vajacials do I need?
It depends on the individual. Your provider will recommend more sessions if needed. You can receive this service as frequently as weekly, although we typically recommend it monthly after your regular Brazilian appointment.
